The Georgia Department of Banking and Finance regulates Georgia mortgage lenders and Georgia mortgage brokers. Approximately 2,750 Mortgage Lenders and Mortgage Brokers are licensed or registered in the State of Georgia. Georgia’s licensee and registrant list is available for approximately $25.00 from Irene Harper, Mortgage Division Secretary, at (770) 986-1269. Individual segments of the list are available for approximately $10.00 each. A list of licensees may also be obtained at no charge on the Department’s Internet site.
Georgia’s licensing statute for mortgage lenders and brokers was enacted in 1993. The Georgia Residential Mortgage Act is codified in Official Code of Georgia sections 7-1-1000 et seq2.
