The Department of Financial Institutions regulates subordinate lien mortgage lenders, and other lenders, under the Indiana Consumer Credit Code. Approximately 500 Indiana lenders are licensed under that statute. The Department’s licensee list is available on its Internet site. Indiana’s Uniform Consumer Credit Code was originally enacted in 1971.
The Securities Division of the Secretary of State’s office regulates brokers. Information on registered brokers may be obtained from Paula Roeschlein of the Securities Division at (317) 232-66842.
